Abstract

Accurate and timely diagnosis of inborn errors of immunity (IEI) is essential for improving patient outcomes. Flow cytometry is widely recommended for robust and sensitive IEI screening; however, no consensus exists regarding the level of detail required at the lymphocyte population level. This webinar explores the findings of a large multicenter study evaluating the diagnostic performance of different levels of dissection of peripheral blood (PB) lymphocyte compartments for sensitive and cost-effective diagnostic screening of IEI in routine practice.

Attendees will learn how deeper analysis of lymphocyte maturation stages—beyond basic cell counts—can significantly increase sensitivity and reduce false negatives. The session will highlight the advantages of using advanced, single-tube, multi-color panels like the Primary ImmunoDeficiency Orientation Tube (PIDOT) testing methodology, which enable robust and cost-effective screening for a wide range of IEI, including severe and non-severe combined immunodeficiencies, predominantly antibody deficiencies and immune dysregulation syndromes.

Webinar attendees will gain practical insights into how these innovations can be implemented in routine laboratory practice to support faster, more accurate diagnoses and better patient care.
